"We Are the Family That Practices Family Law"

Rights of Out of State Parents

Dunlop, Dunlop & Dunlop, P.A. - Family Law Attorneys in Winter Park, Florida

At Dunlop, Dunlop & Dunlop, P.A., our attorneys can help you when your child has been illegally moved out of state by his mother or father. If you are currently an out-of-state parent, we can help you set up long-distance child custody agreements and visitation schedules, so you can see you children that are living in a different state.

Long-Distance Child Custody Agreements

Our office is experienced in obtaining court-ordered visitation agreements for parents that are living out-of-state, or parents that are seeking to relocate to a different state. If you are currently living in a different state than your child, our office will set up the necessary child custody hearings and arrange for your attendance via electronic means. Because of the unique circumstances of traveling long distance, more flexibility must be allowed in long-distance child custody agreements. Our office is experienced in negotiating a visitation schedule that allows for your unique set of circumstances so that you can see your children on a regular basis.

Parental Relocation

If you are the custodial parent, relocation to another state is still possible if you receive a court's permission. This can be much easier when the non-custodial parent has taken a minimal role in their child's life. If that is the case, the non-custodial parent's objection to relocation of the child carries much less force with the court.

Parental Kidnapping

Parental kidnapping is also referred to as "absconding." If the father or mother of your child has taken him out of state in violation of a court order, they have committed a crime. The Uniform Child Custody and Jurisdiction Act (UCCJA) requires other states to enforce the custody and visitation agreements of the controlling state. Our office will do everything that we can to ensure that your child is returned to his home state as soon as possible.

We can help you put your life back together. If you are divorced, or you are facing family law issues, you can call our office at (407) 628-4300 or contact a family law lawyer by filling out our online contact form.
